I have the same one but without any marking, which I found DS a couple of years ago and has seen plenty of use as my personal bag, however I haven't been able to find out anything about it's origins.
Yours is one of the few others I've ever seen, and never in person.

I think this Backpack is from french indochina or algerian war. Stenciled number was probably to recognise the troup or the battalion… best FCC
